First Finchley Central Working Group meeting
25.09.2020On Monday 7th September, fifteen people from the Finchley Central community joined us online for an introduction to the Finchley Square project and to find out more about the role of the working group and the community in the project.
The involvement, knowledge and insight of the local community is vital to making a positive impact in Finchley Central Town Centre. Barnet Council wants the community to develop a sense of influence over the town centre through this project. The working group will:
- Provide a voice for the wider community and help disseminate information.
- Welcome new members along the journey, as the project develops.
- Be proactive – with the aim of doing!
- Help to develop the market and a programme of events for the new square, now and in the future.
- Help to trial ideas to inform the project’s design and continue to programme activities to activate the square once finished.
The meeting was the first of a series of monthly meetings to give the community in Finchley Central an active role in the proposals for the new square and other initiatives in the town centre. The meeting offered the opportunity for those present to meet the project team and hear about Finchley Square. The group was able to ask questions and make suggestions. It also offered a great opportunity for the project team to get to know the group and make steps towards building a new Town Team for Finchley Central.
